FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How will I know if life coaching is for me?
We offer a complimentary initial consultation during which we can discuss your needs and expectations of coaching and I can answer any questions you may have about the process. This will give us the opportunity to get to know each other a little and for you to decide whether you want to go ahead with coaching. If you do decide to take me on as your coach, we will design a coaching package for you during this session.
What's the difference between coaching and counselling?
Coaching and counselling are similar in the sense that both counsellor and coach ask the client questions, sometimes requiring a lot of soul-searching. Neither counsellor nor coach will give advice but they listen to what the client says and direct the conversation with further pertinent questions. However, whereas the typical counselling session will be dealing with issues in the past affecting the present, the coaching relationship is focused on the future and deals with optimising opportunities by acting proactively.
How frequent are life coaching sessions?
This depends on what you want to achieve with your coaching. During the consultation session, we will design a coaching package together that will suit your needs and your budget. Frequency of sessions ranges from one to three sessions per month, with unlimited email support in between.
How long will I need to be coached for?
This depends on what you want to achieve through coaching. Some goals can be met after six sessions, while others take a lot longer. Some longer-term projects require less frequent support over a longer period, whereas a goal such as decluttering generally needs more intensive coaching over a fairly short time span. We usually ask our clients to commit to an initial 6 sessions over a period of maximum of 3 months which can then be extended for as long as you like. Whatever your situation, together we can design a coaching programme to suit you.
How and when would we have our coaching sessions?
Your coaching programme will be tailored to meet your needs. Most clients choose to work with their coach for around 3 months, with a weekly one-hour session to review the week's progress, discuss any challenges or opportunities, and plan the goals for the following week. You may wish to avail of a shorter or a longer course – whatever will work best for you.
Most clients prefer to conduct the coaching sessions by telephone (or via Skype), so that the sessions can be easily incorporated into a busy lifestyle. Again, you can discuss your requirements with your coach to see how best to meet your needs.
